Holmes Fire District # 1 is located in the rural Amish country of Holmes County, Ohio.  The Department is comprised of the Fire Chief, an Assistant Chief, two Captains, three Lieutenants and our Firefighter/EMT/Paramedics.  The Fire District currently has 2 full-time career, 33 part-time and 21 volunteer/paid-on-call personnel.  The Fire District bases it operation out of two stations:  Station # 1 is located on State Route 39 just west of the Village of Millersburg. Station # 2 is located on State Route 83 near Lake Buckhorn.


Station 2

The Fire District maintains at least two personnel on-duty at Station 1 at all times.  Staffing beyond the first call and on alarms of consequence is filled by volunteers and mutual aid.

Holmes Fire District # 1 serves the Village of Millersburg, Monroe, Hardy and Mechanic Townships.  The department is a participant in the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) which covers Holmes County and reaches into Coshocton and Wayne counties and the Statewide Mutual Aid agreement.  Automatic aid is utilized for any structure fire within the county expediting response of mutual aid departments.  For any given structure fire within the county, no less than three departments are dispatched to provide pre-designated equipment.

The department responds to an average of 900 runs annually.
